Verzenay, France’s champagne region

Growing up in a wine country area of California, I appreciate the vineyards and those caring for the grapes.  Everything must be perfect for a good harvest.  The soil, rain, temperatures, and age of each vine determine the quality of wine–or in this case, champagne.  I felt as if I were back home again in California.  I smiled just seeing the rows of vines and breathing in the air as we drove through this region of France.  My favorite, Mailly has vineyards all around but those within distance of the windmill are central to their champagne.  I feel blessed to be here.  Just 90 minutes from Paris, the energy of the city is replaced with the centeredness of nature.  Seasons are necessary for the growth of grape vines.  Autumn symbolizes the time in my own life–the harvest is over yet the colors of the leaves hold their own beauty.  Only God knows what’s next.  Just like the vines, I cannot control the time of the year.  So now, I just need to be still and allow Him to continue working in my life.  It is God who finishes it to completion.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8,  “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:  a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate,a time for war and a time for peace.”

I wait upon the Lord.  He created me and…He created time.  This scripture says it all.  It is easy to want one part of “time” and reject the other, but there is a balance.  There is a time for everything.

Lord, help me to “let go” and allow you to reveal exactly what “time” it is in my life.  Lead me in your way, your time, your purpose.
